Tax Counter Canada is an independent public-information project explaining Canadian taxes and estimated tax revenue. It is not a government service.
What the counter measures
The counter combines published national-accounts figures with projections for periods not yet published. Its movement is a time-based estimate, not a live feed of government cash receipts. Provincial figures are estimated geographic allocations, not provincial budget revenues.
How we write our guides
Our summaries explain the main point, practical context and important limitations in our own words. Each guide links to its original source. A summary does not replace the full publication or advice about your circumstances.
Publication and review dates
A publication date describes when an article appeared here. A source date describes the original publication. A review date records an editorial check; the moving counter does not mean an article has been reviewed again. Historical information is identified as historical rather than presented as a new rule.
Official data and independent research
Government statistics, our projections and third-party research are distinguished in the relevant sections. The Tax Freedom Day indicator comes from the Fraser Institute, not the Canadian government. Different measures should not be treated as interchangeable.
Use the right tool for your decision
Our bracket calculator is an educational illustration before credits and other adjustments. It is not a take-home-pay calculation, a completed tax return or personalized tax advice. Consult the linked government resources for detailed rules.
